Alcohol Safety Training

Alcohol safety training is not required by any aviation government agency, but serving too much alcohol to the wrong passenger at 40,000 feet in the air can be as much of a liability to aviation employees as an outbreak in an aircraft. It is not just the drunk in the aircraft who can cause you problems; it is the drunk who may drive a vehicle after he or she leaves the aircraft. If the intoxicated person has a wreck and injuries or kills an individual/s, while driving after disembarking from an aircraft, the aviation company & employees can be held for criminal & civil liability. Regardless of which state an alcohol occurrence happens in, or which state the aircraft was flying over when the alcohol was served to the intoxicated individual, there will be potential liability.

Benefits of Alcohol Safety Training:

  • Understanding the legal consequences that a commercial or business aviation employee or corporation may face as a seller or server of alcohol to a passenger in an aircraft.
  • Understanding Dram shop laws.
  • Understanding BAC (blood alcohol content).
  • Understanding the liver's role in breaking down alcohol & the pathway through the body.
  • Understanding physical & behavioral signs of intoxication in a passenger.
  • Understanding the genetics that affect a passenger’s BAC.
  • Understanding different ways to prevent passengers from becoming intoxicated.
  • Understanding how to count drinks & assess a passenger’s level of intoxication.
  • Understanding how to handle difficult situations due to passenger intoxication.
